Unlocking the Potential of Arts and Culture in Northern Virginia

Del Ray Artisans is a part of a larger community that is dedicated to supporting and being supported by donations, grants, memberships, partnerships, and collaborations. According to a representative from the Local Art Agencies of Northern Virginia (NVLAA), artists from the region are encouraged to travel, create, and perform, and the NVLAA helps them to build new connections and acquire new skills.

is Fairfax County's local art agency (501 (c)) that is funded by Fairfax County, the Virginia Commission on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, corporations, foundations, and individuals. The organization's mission is to provide artists and arts organizations in Northern Virginia with free professional development workshops and networking opportunities. The Local Art Agencies of Northern Virginia (NVLAA) was established to expand resources and opportunities for artists and arts organizations in Washington D.

C. The NVLAA was formed in 1983 by Arlington County, the City of Alexandria, and Fairfax County. The Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts (WALA) is a non-profit organization of volunteer lawyers who provide education, defense, and legal services to artists and cultural organizations in Washington D. In 1984, the Alexandria City Council created the Alexandria Arts Commission to direct and advocate for cultural development in Alexandria and its surrounding region.

This was done to stimulate artistic excellence and make these arts accessible to all Alexandrians. Brenda has a master's degree in Arts Administration from Golden Gate University and a degree in Theater Arts from California State University in Fresno.

, located in Northern Virginia on the west bank of the Potomac River south of Washington D. C., is home to many talented artists who are supported by organizations such as Virginians for the Arts. This organization works with NVLAA to promote participation in Arts Promotion Day which is celebrated in January at the state legislature in Richmond, Virginia.

The Virginia Commission for the Arts supports artistic excellence where it exists, encourages growth of artistic quality, and works to make this artistic excellence available to all Virginians. The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities promotes the value of arts and culture in Alexandria by encouraging investment in and celebrating creative contributions from artists and arts organizations through its Office of the Arts division. In October 2019, NVLAA held an event at its headquarters in McLean that attracted participants from all three locations. The Local Art Agencies of Northern Virginia (NVLAA) are dedicated to unlocking the potential of arts and culture in Northern Virginia. Through their efforts, they are helping to create a vibrant community that celebrates creativity while providing resources for artists to grow their skillset. By providing free professional development workshops and networking opportunities, NVLAA is helping to ensure that artists have access to the resources they need to succeed.
